Roberto Lopez, Jr.   arrow

lopezBorn and raised in Mission, Texas, Roberto Lopez, Jr., known by most as “Bobby,” returned home to the Rio Grande Valley in 2010 to begin his legal career. Since returning, Bobby has litigated a broad range of civil cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants including, but not limited to, cases of wrongful death, catastrophic personal injuries, complex business litigation, employment discrimination, wrongful foreclosures, and civil rights issues. In addition to the civil litigation and pre-trial motion practice, Bobby has also successfully tried numerous criminal cases before juries in Hidalgo County.

Through experience, Bobby learned that individuals often encounter life-lasting legal issues including the wrongful death of a loved one, divorce, the custody of a child, the loss of a home, or the loss of a business. In these situations, Bobby strives to provide every individual with the personal attention and strong representation they need to succeed and obtain the justice they deserve. Bobby’s strong commitment led him to accept some cases on a pro bono basis, this commitment was recognized by the State Bar of Texas when he became a member of the Pro Bono College in 2012.

Because Bobby continues to serve as a prosecutor protecting our community and providing justice for victims of crime, he ethically cannot represent or advise individuals regarding criminal issues.

Bobby is a proud 2007 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a Bachelor of Science in Political Communications. During his time at the University of Texas, Bobby was inducted into various honor societies and was also a member of the Brothers Under Christ fraternity.

In 2010, Bobby graduated from Baylor Law School, where he excelled in its nationally ranked trial advocacy program. During this time, Bobby was selected by Baylor faculty to represent Baylor in national and regional mock trial and client counseling competition. In addition to the advocacy teams, Bobby also excelled in the classroom and gained several academic awards including the highest grade in several classes.

Bobby is licensed to practice law in all Texas state courts. In addition, Bobby is also licensed to practice law before the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and before United States District Courts for the Western and Southern District of Texas.

Bobby continues to remain active in the Hidalgo County community including involvement with the South Texas College Leadership Academies and various high school mock trial programs. In his spare time, Bobby enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, and watching his younger sister Alyssa’s softball games.
